Building Characters for the Stage: The DO’s and DON’Ts and a few tricks with Michael Kraklio
No matter whether you are performing a mime piece, tableau, monologue, or scene, your physicality is part of your “actor’s toolkit.” Physicality, along with your voice and imagination, helps you to tell a story. As an actor, it is important to develop your character’s physicality so that it is different from your own.
Throughout 10 weeks, we will look at the do’s and dont’s of character-building, using exercises and short scenes. We will learn to create character profiles, and then physically create what comes from within. It’s about having the confidence to be vulnerable and recognizing that confidence. We will have a lot of fun, laugh, cry, and drink lots of coffee. Join me, learn with me, and have fun with me!
Scene Study for Actors with Julie Ahasay
With hands-on, individualized coaching and direction from instructor Julie Ahasay, participants will work in pairs and trios to explore, rehearse and perform two contrasting scenes over the 7 weeks. The course is fun, flexible and is geared to meet you where you are as an actor—whether you are a novice or a more experienced performer.
