Children’s Theatre

The Playhouse Children’s Theatre performs 5 full productions a season for all ages between 5-18 years of age. Kids from all over the region (and even as far as Canada) to participate in our high-quality classes, camps, shows, and performance intensives. We’re more than a theatre that puts on shows. Our students are empowered to be problem-solving critical thinkers, who demonstrate empathy and excellence on stage and off. We build character for every stage of life!

 

The Playhouse Children’s Theatre also launched a Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) series in 2015. TYA produces interactive theatre events that ignite the imagination of children and adults alike. This inventive series features a professional ensemble of adult actors in plays capturing the irreverence of childhood, make brave adaptations of literature, and ensure memorable first-time theatre experiences.

Disney’s The Lion King JR! is the epic adventure of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as King.

Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon, and loveable warthog Pumbaa. The musical tale of ‘The Ugly Duckling!’

Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother’s protective flapping.

Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be!
