On February 25, a very special event is taking stage at the Playhouse Family Theatre with Lyric Opera of the North’s Little Loon program!
What’s so special about this performance, you ask? It’s never been done for the general public before! Little LOON usually travels only to schools, so this particular event has never been available to the public previously. To make it even more of a must-see, this is the only public event of Little Loon’s season.
Little Opera of the North, or Little Loon, focuses on bringing the magic of opera to elementary schools, providing artistic exposure and inspiration to northern Minnesota and has been doing so for five seasons. The Little LOON entourage consists of four professional singers, one pianist, a set, costumes, props, and finally – the school! This cast arrives at the school, rehearses with their chorus (16 students from the school) and performs for the school as well as a few select guests.
This year’s student’s participating in Massenet’s Cinderella come from North Shore Community School!
This performance is the perfect introduction to the world of opera for young ones, especially ages 5 and up. The performance is ~ 45-minutes in length (no intermission) so little kids shouldn’t get too squirmy.
