Holiday Appeal

Dear Playhouse supporters,

Today, we embark on our Year-End Campaign. The mission of The Duluth Playhouse is to offer opportunities in theatre arts that may educate, entertain, and involve the region served. Offering a safe and nurturing environment, the Playhouse provides engaging opportunities for all ages, backgrounds, and experiences- for students, artists, and audiences.

Our goal this year is three parts, a little something for each of our theatre’s:

  • To replenish our scholarship fund: over 600 youth participate in theatre education programs where 30% are given scholarships to attend and no student is ever denied.
  • To provide access to the arts by giving free tickets to shows to disadvantaged populations
  • To support artists in our community by giving them the tools, education and space to exercise their creativity and push the boundaries of traditional theatre arts

This holiday season, we hope to raise $25,000 by December 31, but we can’t do it without you.

We are including a special gift for you. However, this is a gift we hope you return. Will you return the star to us, in the enclosed envelope, to hang on our holiday tree? We would love for you to write a message on the back and share with us what compels you to give this holiday season.

Would you be willing to make a special year-end contribution and send it back with your star? With your support, we can impact our community in a lasting way. Your gift will open the door to opportunity for those who otherwise couldn’t experience the theatre arts.

Please join us by making your gift online or by sending a check to The Duluth Playhouse (211 E. Superior St., Duluth MN, 55802).

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,

Christine Gradl Seitz

Executive and Artistic Director

Patron Comments about their Duluth Playhouse experiences:

All their shows are amazing!! So much detail and love goes into each one!! – Daisy Thralow

I attend shows at the Playhouse and the Underground regularly with my friends, grandmother, and Mentor Duluth match. The actors are excellent, song and dance numbers are well rehearsed, and there is a wide variety of genres performed. I am especially thankful that they host free performances for Mentor Duluth pairs and that they are actively involved in the community. For example, when I was an intern for The Duluth Library Foundation they allowed us to borrow a few costume pieces for a children’s literacy event at the Miller Hill Mall. The event was a huge success and the Duluth Playhouses contribution was absolutely necessary in making a magical experience for the kids. – Taylor Boelk

Music Man was FABULOUS! What a talented cast .We are SO fortunate to have these venues in our area at such a Beautiful theatre. LOVED IT! – Dawn Karlon

When my husband and I headed north, we were very sad to leave behind the vibrant theatre community in the cities. We were so delighted and surprised to find an equally vibrant theatre community on the north shore. We haven’t missed a show since we relocated- the Playhouse is our favorite way to spend date night. We were recently celebrating our wedding anniversary at ‘Rock of Ages’ when my husband had a medical emergency. The Playhouse treated us like family. We love this theatre and look forward to countless date nights to come.  – Amanda Joy

We saw RUMORS and honestly it’s one of the funniest productions I’ve seen in a long time. Kudos to all the actors, and staff at the Duluth Playhouse for once again producing a world class production right here in Duluth. – Ryan Kern

I can’t say enough about what they are doing at the Duluth Playhouse. The acting is superb. Watched Mary Poppins tonight with my family and it was top notch. Mary Poppins (Ali Finstrom) was steller. Each actor did an excellent job. A “must do” great Duluth experience! – Christopher Swanson

The Smokey Joe’s Cafe performance was fantastic. This was my first visit to the revived theater. It is nicely done, the ushers were great and an overall trip back in time. What was extra nice was the presence of staff in the parking ramp after the show. It made coming to the ramp more comfortable, safety wise. – Pat Bruno

Love this theatre! Great shows and they do a wonderful job getting your child engaged in watching the show!! – Ann Stien
