Our classes are going virtual

What a couple of weeks it’s been! We know you’re as eager as we are to keep everyone safe and healthy while also finding ways to give your families a sense of normalcy in these crazy times.

As many of you know by now, we have postponed all Playhouse productions across all three of our stages (stay tuned for new performances dates to be determined!) through the month of April.

But, with kids at home (and big kids are probably looking for something new to do on a daily basis, too), we’ve been hosting free classes via Facebook Live on our profile page for a couple of weeks! There is something for all ages: dance-a-longs for kids 6 and under, dance classes for all ages and all skill levels, and work-out classes for all fitness levels, too.

Here’s one of our recent dance-a-longs, lead by our Family Theatre and School of Performing Arts artistic director, Amber Burns:

Since this way of teaching is new to us, we expect there to be a few hiccups along the way and want to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. We would also love feedback from you on what’s working and what’s not when you’re tuning in from home, so please feel free to email us anytime!

We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and are committed to moving classes back onsite as soon as the green light is given to performance venues across the state.

Stay healthy, stay home, wash those hands, and we really can’t wait to see you all online!

Sincerely,
Amber and the Playhouse team

PS – here’s a look at this week’s Facebook Live schedule. It’s easy to log on. Sign into your personal Facebook account, search ‘The Duluth Playhouse’ and visit our profile page. When we are currently live, you will see a red ‘LIVE’ banner next to the Videos tab on the left-hand side of our page. Click the ‘Videos’ tab, and the first video in the line-up should be the currently Live-recorded video. Click on it, and join in the fun!
