Your support of the Playhouse is the foundation of our future!
Each season the support from our friends is the most critical piece in achieving the artistic quality you enjoy at the Duluth Playhouse and our three stages. Your tax-deductible donation balances the portion of our budget not covered by ticket sales. The impact of your support can be felt in the productions and the educational programs we offer and can help us continue our long-standing legacy to serving the region.
Every dollar counts in our efforts to raise money to support our mission as a not-for-profit organization, and there are several ways to give.

Program activities with the Duluth Playhouse, the Underground Theatre, the Playhouse Family Theatre, and our education programming, are made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
“Loved ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ I can’t wait to bring my husband to a performance here!” – Heather Ann, patron
“It is great to have this venue in Duluth. My husband and I left with a natural high after seeing ‘Mamma Mia!’ on Sunday. Everything about the show was phenomenal. The lead singers were amazing. The ensemble of dancers and singers were great and I can’t say enough about the orchestra. It was all top-notch. The performance was filled with energy. Everyone responsible should be proud of a show well done. Thank you for making our day!!!” – Lora Olson, patron
“The theater is beautiful, the acoustics are amazing. ‘Mamma Mia!’ was a tremendous show. One of the best plays I have seen, funny, tender, incredible talent. ‘Mamma Mia!’ is so much better on stage than on screen. Absolutely loved it worth seeing a second time.” – Charlene Kirkpatrick, patron
“I attend shows at the Playhouse and the Underground regularly with my friends, grandmother, and Mentor Duluth match. The actors are excellent, song and dance numbers are well-rehearsed, and there is a wide variety of genres performed. I am especially thankful that they host free performances for Mentor Duluth pairs and that they are actively involved in the community. For example, when I was an intern for The Duluth Library Foundation they allowed us to borrow a few costume pieces for a children’s literacy event at the Miller Hill Mall. The event was a huge success and the Duluth Playhouses contribution was absolutely necessary for making a magical experience for the kids.” –Taylor Boelk, patron
“When my husband and I headed north, we were very sad to leave behind the vibrant theatre community in the cities. We were so delighted and surprised to find an equally vibrant theatre community on the north shore. We haven’t missed a show since we relocated- the playhouse is our favorite way to spend date night. We were recently celebrating our wedding anniversary at ‘Rock of Ages’ when my husband had a medical emergency. The Playhouse treated us like family. We love this theatre and look forward to countless date nights to come. ” – Amanda Joy, patron
“After devoting years and years to the Duluth Playhouse, one would assume I’d pursue a career in performing. Instead, I decided to become a nurse. Even though I’ve prepared myself in this profession through countless college courses and volunteering sessions, nothing has taught me more than the Playhouse has.
Before the Playhouse, I could not sing in front of others without being morbidly terrified; I could not start a conversation without anyone there to help me; all in all, I could not be myself.
With the Children’s Theatre program, I learned every person walking through the Conservatory doors has a gift to share and a story to tell. It has taught me how to be supportive.
The Playhouse has taught me more about living than anything else. I think that anyone, whether you decide to become a nurse or an actor, can gain something from theatre. Whether you’re acting on stage or in the audience, theatre can teach so much more about life than one would ever expect to find within a (sometimes) overly dramatic portrayal of living. The Duluth Playhouse has not only taught me to find faith in others but faith in myself.
As the holiday season nears, I hope you’ll consider a tax-deductible gift to the Playhouse. Your generosity directly benefits the quality of experience, not just with the Playhouse, but with the Children’s Theatre and Underground as well. The Playhouse has already been here for over a century, and I know they plan to stick around for generations to come. They wouldn’t be here without supporters like you, and I honestly wouldn’t be here without the Playhouse.
Thank you so much, and best wishes this holiday season!” – Maddison (young actor and student)

“I can’t say enough about what they are doing at the Duluth Playhouse. The acting is superb. Watching ‘Mary Poppins’ with my family, the performance was top notch. Mary Poppins (played by Ali Littrell Finstrom) was stellar. Each actor did an excellent job. A “must-do” great Duluth experience!” – Christopher Swanson, patron
“We have been season ticket holders for a number of years and we have been thoroughly entertained by the quality of all performances. The production, the acting, the sets are all top-notch.” – Edward Thompson, patron and season ticket holder
