This role involves hands-on assistance with costume construction, maintenance of costumes and wardrobe inventory. The Assistant Costume Shop Manager oversees wardrobe on all Playhouse productions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Costume Construction & Production Support:
- Assist in the timely construction and completion of costumes for all Duluth Playhouse productions, including Main Stage, Youth Theatre, and Underground productions.
- Collaborate with the Costume Shop Manager and Costume Designer to ensure costume designs are brought to life with attention to detail and within production timelines.
- Wardrobe Management & Maintenance:
- Maintain an organized inventory of sewing supplies, laundry materials, and janitorial products to support all costume-related activities for productions.
- Ensure that all costume-related equipment, such as sewing machines, sergers, and irons, are well-maintained (clean, oil, needles replaced, etc.) and fully operational.
- Assist in coordinating the acquisition of necessary supplies and equipment by communicating with the Costume Shop Manager for repairs, replacements, or new purchases.
- Actor Measurements & Fittings:
- Assist with measuring actors for costume fittings, particularly for the Youth Theater Productions.
- Help maintain an accurate record of actor measurements for future costume adjustments and productions.
- Costume Strike & Maintenance:
- Collaborate with the Wardrobe Manager and Costume Designer to ensure that costumes, wigs, shoes, and accessories are properly cleaned, repaired, and restocked after each production.
- Coordinate the "strike" process, in coordination with Wardrobe Manager and Costume Designer, which includes dry cleaning and restocking, as well as ensuring all dressing rooms are reset after each production run.
- Volunteer Recruitment & Management:
- Recruit and instruct volunteers in costume construction, alterations, and other wardrobe-related tasks.
- Provide training, guidance, and supervision to ensure quality work and an efficient work environment.
- Organize volunteer appreciation activities, such as providing tickets to events and coordinating special appreciation events for volunteers.
- Coordination & Collaboration:
- Assist the Costume Shop Manager in organizing tours of costume spaces and inventory management in collaboration with the Costume Designer and Wardrobe Manager.
- Attend production meetings and technical rehearsals as needed to ensure that wardrobe and costume needs are met throughout the production process.
- General Administrative Support:
- Help track and document costume-related activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and within the production schedule.
- Support the Costume Shop Manager with any other administrative duties, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
