BREAKDOWN
THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA
Book by Craig Lucas
Music and Lyrics by Adam Guettel
Travel with American tourists Margaret Johnson and her daughter Clara as they take in the wonders of Florence, Italy, in the summer of 1953. When a fateful gust of wind whisks Clara’s hat into the hands of Fabrizio, it’s amore at first sight. Heralded as a work of consummate beauty when it opened on Broadway, The Light in the Piazza won six Tony Awards, including Best Original Score for Adam Guettel (grandson of legendary composer Richard Rodgers). This cherished masterpiece features "the most intensely romantic score of any musical since West Side Story" (New York Times).

HOME, I’M DARLING
By Laura Wade
Everything is perfect - the house is tidy, the table is set, and Judy’s dress is pressed for when she greets Johnny at the door, martini in hand. It is the 1950s, and life is ordered just right. Or is it? As the fantasy fades, the edges of this perfect life start to unravel, and we discover that things are not quite what they seem. In Home, I’m Darling (winner of the 2019 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy), playwright Laura Wade explores the complications of marriage, cake, and the dangers of nostalgia.
Rehearsals start April 14, 2025 with performances May 23-June 1, 2025.
SEEKING:
Judy: (Female Presenting - Early 40s) Someone with deep reverence and longing to return to a way of life that she thinks existed in the 1950s. She and her husband turned their house into a mid-century lookalike and have adopted a nostalgic 50s lifestyle. Judy is a complex character whose layers peel away throughout the course of the play. She wants to be the perfect housewife...or does she?
Johnny: (Male Presenting - Early 40s) Judy’s husband, who willingly dives into the 50s lifestyle change experiment. On the surface, he's content with the reality he is in, but underneath he starts to quietly question this contentment.
Fran: (Female Presenting - Mid 30s/early 40s) Judy’s friend. She and her husband also love the 50s style, but she is only willing to adapt certain elements. Fran likes hanging out with Judy and Johnny, but she is curious about Judy’s motives for going so far with the lifestyle commitment.
Marcus: (Male Presenting - 40s) Fran’s older husband. He likes the idea of the 50s style and along with his wife is happy to adapt elements of it. He represents more traditional, men-centric attitudes and secretly yearns for the ideal housewife.
Sylvia: (Female Presenting - 60s) Judy’s mother. She doesn’t understand Judy’s obsession with 50s. Sylvia is an activist whose views about the past are quite different from Judy's. She loves her daughter, but fails to comprehend her choices.
Alex: (Female Presenting - 30s) Alex is Johnny’s new boss. She is fascinated and bewildered by the couple’s way of life. She brings in a more critical attitude towards nostalgia. She is career driven and focused on work.
EVERY BRILLIANT THING
By Duncan Macmillan, with Jonny Donahoe
“Ice cream.” “Water fights.” “Laughing so hard you shoot milk out your nose.” A boy’s handwritten list to cheer up his despondent mom becomes a surprisingly funny and poignant ode to humanity. Every Brilliant Thing invites audiences on a transcendent and tender coming-of-age journey that reminds us to pay attention to life’s smallest joys—and to each other. This hilarious and heart-wrenching play “highlights the irrepressible resilience of the human spirit and the capacity to find delight in the everyday.” (Time Out London)
Rehearsal Start: Feb 24, 2025 with performances: April 3 - 20, 2025. There will be a few character meetings with the director before the official start date of rehearsals.
SEEKING:
Narrator: The Narrator can be played by an 18+ actor of any gender or ethnicity. They speak almost exclusively directly to the audience and at times get audience members to play various characters in the play. It is vital to the success of the show that the audience like and trust the Narrator. Every Brilliant Thing tackles some very heavy subjects, but is also charming and at times very funny. The performer portraying the Narrator must be able to navigate heavy subjects with in earnest and with levity.
