To the Playhouse Family Theatre or The Underground Theatre:
The Depot, which houses the Playhouse Family Theatre and Underground Theatre, is just off Highway 35 North. Take Exit 256B, stay on the right to take Michigan Street, and this will bring you right past the Depot building where we are located. We’re also right across the street from the Duluth Library.
There are two parking ramps located on either side of the Depot building. Both are free after 5pm on weekdays and free on weekends. There are also limited street and metered parking spaces directly in front of the Depot.
Now the hosting venue for the Duluth Playhouse mainstage series, the NorShor Theatre offers a full theatrical experience. Come early to grab a seat in one of our lounges and enjoy a beverage or snack served by Blackwoods while taking in the renewed theatre. Feel free to come early to find your seat as well, especially if you have yet to experience the new NorShor. The NorShor offers two levels of seating, the main floor and balcony, and both levels are handicap accessible. The seating capacity for the NorShor is 580.
The Playhouse Family Theatre at the Depot is now the home for family-focused entertainment from arts groups throughout the community and Minnesota. Formerly the Children’s Theatre and home of the Playhouse mainstage series, the Playhouse Family Theatre will be a place parents and grandparents can frequently and consistently look fo, and find, programing for young ones. Seating capacity for the Family Theatre stage is 280.
The Underground Theatre is a truly one-of-a-kind theatrical space. The size and flexible seating of the space allows us to get the audience close to the performances (so close you can feel spit sometimes!), creating intimate and powerful experiences. The seating arrangement can change from show to show, offering something new every time you visit. Seating capacity is 120-150, depending on the seating arrangement and is general admission.
This venue map is an example of how The Underground could be set up for a production. It often changes from show to show.
