The highly anticipated event promises to be an unforgettable evening filled with champagne, delectable bites, and local personalities living out their musical theatre dreams.
Guests will receive a red carpet welcome followed by complimentary champagne and an array of savory hors d’oeuvres. The highlight of the night will be a fun and spirited Broadway performance competition showcasing the talents of Twin Ports celebrities. Throughout the night, attendees can mingle with contestants, cast their votes for their favorite performers, win special prizes, and indulge in a decadent dessert and coffee bar provided by Black Woods and Greysolon Catering. Before the winner is announced, guests will enjoy a reprise performance from 2024’s Champion Hunter McCullough, who is a meteorologist for Northern News Now and a member of The Northwoods Band. They’ll also experience an exclusive sneak peek of the Playhouse’s upcoming production of the Tony Award-winning musical The Light in the Piazza.
The 2025 Singing with the Stars contestants are Anna and Nathanael Bailey (Bailey Builds), Sara Cole (Duluth Area Family YMCA), Brent Ekstrom (Essentia Health), Cheryl Fosdick (CF Design/LUMstudio), Annie Harala (St Louis County Board/Story North Productions), Aaron Kelly (LHB), Cameron Kruger (Lincoln Park Business Group), Steve Nys (Fryberger Law Firm), Baihly Warfield (WDIO), and Jason Watt (Bell Bank). Celebrity judges Kenny Johnson (WDIO), Stephanie Williams (Duluth School Board), and last year’s winner, Hunter McCullough, will offer playful commentary to keep the audience laughing and entertained throughout the evening.
All proceeds from Duluth Playhouse’s biggest fundraiser of the year will go toward supporting local artists and strengthening the School of Performing Arts. As a cornerstone of the community, the Playhouse provides over 600 positions annually for local actors, directors, designers, instructors, and artists. Beyond bolstering the local creative workforce, the Playhouse also provides year-round educational programming for more than 500 students of all ages. These programs help students develop both as artists and individuals, equipping them with the tools to follow their passions and excel in their craft.
Celebrating 110 years of live theatre, the Playhouse has been a vital part of the Twin Ports arts community since its founding in 1914. As one of the nation’s oldest non-profit arts organizations, it continues to enrich the region with high-quality performances and accessible arts education for all. Nestled in the heart of Duluth’s Historic Arts and Theatre District, the Playhouse is a living testament to the enduring impact of community collaboration and creative expression.
